Abigail M. Huffman, CFA

Abigail Huffman was most recently the Director of Research for Russell Investments’ investment strategies group.  Abigail was responsible for driving and coordinating the firm-wide research and thought leadership agenda.  She authored commentary for Russell clients and articulated Russell positions to the media.  Her areas of expertise are the equities markets and investment strategy.  A frequent blogger, Abigail launched a monthly blog “Taxing Times” covering tax and policy issues.  Abigail joined Russell in 2010.

Prior to joining Russell, Abigail worked for TIAA-CREF in New York from 2005 to 2010.  She built an independent research department for the TIAA-CREF Trust Company a subsidiary, which serves high net worth individuals.  She also established the fundamental overlay methodology to the quantitative equity selection process, hired and supervised a large cap equity research team, managed broker dealer relationships, and developed investment strategy recommendations for portfolio managers.  Abigail developed and authored the highly regarded “Gaining Trust” quarterly market commentary.  An active member of the New York Society of Securities Analysts and CFA Institute, Abigail was a panel member for “The State of Buy-Side Research” and also a frequent judge for the “Annual Research Challenge.”

From 1997 to 2004, Abigail worked at Charles Schwab.  At Schwab she was part of the capital markets group, most notably as the research associate for the chief investment strategist as well as the Institutional Investor ranked Washington Research Group.  Abigail was also instrumental in evaluating capital markets businesses as part of the capital markets strategy group; she also worked with individual investors.  Abigail has experience as a stockbroker at Prudential Securities and has worked in corporate treasuries, including Baring Securities and Time Warner, trading and hedging foreign currency exposures.
